Series One - Descendants of James Crookston

I am starting my blog up.  I want to update and inform of what I am doing in Family History. Here is a review of my latest project.

 I sent this information out in an e-mail in March 2023.

I have finished compiling a book of all the Descendants of James Crookston (1785-1846).  The lines are from three of children: George Crookston (1810-1880) and Janet Crookston (1814-1895) who came from James's first wife Janet Lock; Robert Crookston (1821-1916) and James Crookston (1823-1842) who came from his second wife Mary Young.  There are 8,371 people and 4,891 families.

 I have collected the names of all the dead that I could trace from James Line.  I have included their vital facts and description (when I could find a description from their obituary).  If there was any stories or biographies, I would take a story or two.  From obituaries, US and Church census and other death records, I have included those that “survived by” those who passed.  Of those living, if they were born before 1960 and I have the information, I put their birth year and location.  All those born after 1960 I only included their names.

 Some family members have requested to have their living names and information included.  I have done that.  I am open for any deletions, additions, or any modifications.  I am having as many review the names as I can find.

 This how I have divided the book and an approximate cost of each soft cover book:

 Volume One: 1st to 4th Generations (Migration and Settling Years) 257 pages $10.99.

Volume Two: 5th Generation (Turn of the Century) 433 pages $17.17.

Volume Three: 6th Generation (Great Depression and War Years) 505 pages $19.70.

Volume Four: 7th - 9th Generations (Post War Years and Index) 427 pages $16.96.

Volume Five: Descendants of John Young (Aunt Sophie and Cousin Margaret) 86 pages $4.99.

By popular request I will add family portraits (for those who want them and send me the information) to the end of volume three (or if it becomes large make a volume 4).

 I will only sell books to descendants of James Crookston.  No digital copy will be available.

 I am currently in the process of trimming and editing some of the living names with the help of those family members.

I am about halfway done on Volume Six - Descendants of Nicholas Welch.  I am at 323 pages so far.  I have taken a short break as I clean up the formatting issues, punctuation and grammar in the first four volume of Descendants of James Crookston. I was getting changes up to the day before I sent it to the publisher. 

It was a daunting task to take to re-read the 1500 plus pages without interruption for correction.  I have learned and come up with some new methods of writing the histories.  I am now printing the entire 1500+ pages in Microsoft Word and using Word's editor to review my book.  I am on page 204 and expect to be completed in a couple of months.

I expect to be done with Volume Six - Descendants of Nicholas Welch by the Spring 2024.
