A story everybody should listen to...

Abel Weaver Garr - A Glenn Rawson Story

Abel was my Grandmother Phyllis Garr Crookston's grandfather. What is not mentioned in the story, is that he travelled from Winter Quarters in 1846 with his father Fielding Garr and family to Salt Lake as being the first wagon train to Utah. They left late and stopped Wyoming for further instructions from Brigham Young. Brigham asked them to return, which they did. They came the next year 1847 when the Saints first arrived by wagon train in Utah.

In the 1860's under the direction of Brigham Young he would make round trips in the spring to Missouri to pick up Saints and Supplies by wagon train and return to Utah that same year.
